Data handled locally
To provide its features, Chess Cooldown handles the following information on your device:
- the current Chess.com page path;
- game-over result text shown by Chess.com and the detected result (win, loss, or draw);
- reflection notes you enter;
- cooldown status, timing, and settings;
- your local daily count of detected rated live games; and
- records of completed or skipped cooldowns.
The page path, detected result, and game-over text may be combined into a limited fingerprint stored locally to avoid handling the same game-over event more than once. Chess Cooldown does not read the chessboard, moves, notation, positions, evaluation, or clocks. It does not read cookies or account credentials.
How the data is used
This information is used only for the extension's core features: recognizing the end of an eligible rated live game, showing the reflection and cooldown screens, applying your settings and optional daily cap, preventing duplicate handling, keeping your local reflection log, and creating a JSON export when you request one.
While a game is in progress, the extension only observes the page for a supported game-over signal. It does not provide analysis or take any gameplay action.
Storage and transmission
All extension data is stored in chrome.storage.local on your device. Nothing is sent to the developer, developer-operated servers, analytics services, advertisers, or other third parties. The developer cannot access your stored data.
Your reflection log leaves extension storage only when you choose to export it. Export creates a JSON file through your browser for you to save and control.
No sale, transfer, advertising, or credit use
Chess Cooldown does not sell or transfer your data. It does not use your data for advertising, profiling, or determining creditworthiness or lending eligibility.
Retention
Data remains in Chrome's local extension storage until you clear the extension's stored data or remove the extension. Exported JSON files remain wherever you chose to save them and are under your control.
No remote code or automated Chess.com actions
All extension code is included in the installed extension. Chess Cooldown does not download or execute remote code. It does not make automated clicks, submit content to Chess.com, start games, or play moves. It does not use a chess engine or provide game analysis.
